Edge-based active queue management

چکیده

In the paper, a new framework of active queue management, namely, edge-based active queue management (EAQM), is proposed. Conventional AQM schemes are required to be deployed at all routers in the network, and this involves significant upgrading to current drop-tail routers. The new approach only needs to modify the edge routers and at the same time provides similar or better performance as compared to conventional AQM schemes. Furthermore, EAQM can reduce the throughput bias against TCP connections with longer round trip times, and this cannot be achieved by current available AQM approaches.

Preferential Bandwidth Allocation for Short Flows with Active Queue Management

Several fair queueing mechanisms based on stateless core (SCORE)/dynamic packet state (DPS) architecture have been proposed to address the scalability problem of stateful architectures. However, most of these mechanisms indiscriminatingly label every packet in edge routers while only a small fraction of the packets that come from fast flows will be dropped by core routers. Moreover, these mecha...

CHOKeD: A Fair Active Queue Management System

Fairness is the significant factor to sustain best effort delivery of network services. Now-a-days, real-time multimedia applications have evolved largely over the Internet. Most of multimedia services are unresponsive during network congestion. Unresponsive traffic streams steal most network bandwidth and starve out some other flows which are responsive during network congestion. In the presen...

Tuning Active Monitoring in Multi-service IP Networks

This paper explores the use of edge-to-edge active monitoring to control simultaneously multiple QoS parameters in multi-service IP networks, while reducing the effects of intrusion on real traffic. Considering a multi-class domain where traffic is controlled at network boundaries based on feedback from on-line measurements, the present work is centered on obtaining adequate per class in-band p...
